We live in challenging times, with growing geopolitical tension and violence around the world. While much attention is paid to technology’s negative capabilities, technology can also play a more positive role, through the contributions of what is known as Peacetech.
PeaceTech is an emerging field dedicated to using technology for peacebuilding and conflict resolution. It encompasses several technologies ranging from early warning systems to AI driven predictions to citizen journalism platforms. While technologies for peace have demonstrated great potential, much more needs to be done in order to advance the peacetech movement around the world.
On May 31st, 2024, The GovLab will host a 60-minute webinar on the possibilities of technology for peace. We will ask experts in the PeaceTech community to reflect on their own experiences developing technologies for peace, their work since participating in the Kluz Prize for PeaceTech, and what it takes to accelerate a global peacetech movement.
Panelists include distinguished participants from the 2022 and 2023 Kluz Prize for PeaceTech–an initiative by Kluz Ventures and The GovLab that celebrates organizations and initiatives pioneering cutting-edge technologies for peace.
